Our Story
Although we’ve been together for 13 years now, we actually met when we were nine years old! We went to the same K-12 school, but it took until our freshman biology class for us to start talking to each other. Conversation came easy as lab partners, and we quickly found that we were both like-minded individuals with a passion for science. We had our first date in 2010, going to see one of our high school theater’s performances. Since we were only sophomores and couldn’t drive yet, our moms had to drop us off.
During college our relationship survived both distance and attending rival universities (UofM & MSU). We helped pass the time between visits through texts, facetime, long bus rides, and handwritten letters. Our time apart let us grow as individuals, but also grow stronger together, learning that our bond was just as strong despite any time apart or distance.
We love learning about each other’s hobbies and finding new ones together. We’re often found rock climbing, kayaking, playing board games, and hosting New Years Eve parties… we have a lot of fun together!
We got our first apartment together in April of 2022 and have loved turning it into our own home. Since Monica knew the proposal would be soon, Salvatore made sure to keep the timing of the proposal unexpected. There were surprise dates to nice restaurants, tiny packages under the christmas tree, and homemade candle-lit dinners to keep Monica guessing when the moment would come. This all led to the proposal at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve, surrounded by friends, as the champagne was being poured. We had lots of things to celebrate that day!
We're excited about all of our future adventures together and look forward to many more in the decades to come!
